Moving Healthcare was established in 2020 to cater for the ever-expanding need for home-based Allied Health Services and a genuine love for helping people achieve their goals.

We are a specialist provider of home-based Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy to Metropolitan Melbourne.

We cater to a wide range of patient needs at all stages of the lifespan, with a particular interest in the management of those living with a disability, neurological conditions, post-operative rehabilitation and aged care.

We adopt safe, effective, evidence-based interventions to maximise independence in individuals with compomised function that results from primary pathological processes and resultant impairments.

We help you overcome barriers that may be hindering your function as a result of musculoskeletal and neurological diseases or injuries, such as fractures or strokes.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Gabriella Schiftan

Managing Director | Principal Physiotherapist

Gabriella graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Physiotherapy Practice in 2013.

She has cultivated a broad physiotherapy skill and knowledge base from her extensive experience working across a variety of different healthcare settings. In addition to seven years of home-based community physio service provision, she has worked in Acute Hospitals, Private Practice, Clinical Pilates, as well as Inpatient and Outpatient Rehabilitation Hospital Departments. She has managed patients presenting with a range of complex Neurological, Cardiorespiratory and Musculoskeletal conditions.

Of all her experience, Gabriella has always felt particularly drawn to working in the community home-based setting. She loves the personal and rewarding nature of working in this environment and the truly functional and tangible results that can be achieved.

Gabriella herself loves to move and is an avid participant in a range of sports. She feels passionate about enabling others to do the same and to move peoples’ lives in the direction they desire. She has an excellent understanding of the barriers that can challenge one’s ability for optimal movement and knows the best way of overcoming these in order to maximise your function.

Amy-Lynne Simmons

Physiotherapist

Amy is a Doctor of Physiotherapy, studying on the Gold Coast. Prior to this, Amy completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science at The University of Tasmania (being originally Tasmanian!). 

Since graduating as a physiotherapist, Amy has attained a broad range of experience, including private hospital, community based, musculoskeletal private practice and aged care physiotherapy services. Amy is a motivated physiotherapist and is continuously updating her practice with podcasts, audiobooks and physiotherapy courses, including extended knowledge on shoulder pathologies and Clinical Pilates. 

Amy is a compassionate, inquisitive and knowledgeable physiotherapist and is driven to help each client achieve their goals and feel empowered in their care. Amy bases her treatments on shared decision making and believes the clients are experts in their problem. 

When Amy isn’t working, you will find her walking her mini dachshund, reading or listening to a great book and drinking coffees with friends. Amy loves to live an active, balanced lifestyle and hopes to assist her clients in doing the same.

Joel Ow

Physiotherapist

Born in Singapore and raised in Perth, Joel made the move to Melbourne to pursue his studies – graduating from the University of Melbourne with a Doctor of Physiotherapy in 2018 – and to experience the epicenter of food, entertainment, arts and sports! 

Joel has broad and in-depth experience working in a hospitals, private clinic, sports teams and community-based settings. He is also passionate and upskilled in working with people with disabilities, neurological, and musculoskeletal conditions. What sets him apart is his love for the profession and having the ability to help people achieve things that they never thought possible such as, regaining their independence, mobility, comfort and quality of life. 

 

On his days off, you’ll often find Joel on the golf course, shooting hoops on the basketball court, competing in tennis and badminton, or scaling the heights of a rock-climbing wall. He believes that staying active and engaged with life is essential to overall health and happiness.

Ryan Fuller physiotherapist

Ryan Fuller

Physiotherapist

Ryan graduated from La Trobe university in 2017 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Master of Physiotherapy. He gained diverse experience in a private hospital setting, working in UCI, orthopaedic, neurological and cardiorespiratory departments for 2 years. Following this, Ryan transitioned into private practice where he provided musculoskeletal care, home visits and NDIS services. 

Ryan is a caring, compassionate, understanding, and a patient physiotherapist. He believes in a holistic approach to care, ensuring that each treatment plan is tailored to the unique needs of his clients. Ryan values open communication
and actively listens to his clients, ensuring they feel heard and respected.

With extensive experience working with NDIS and elderly populations, he is skilled in managing complex conditions and is adept at helping clients improve their mobility, function, and overall quality of life. Ryan is dedicated to
empowering individuals by educating them on their conditions and guiding them through their rehabilitation journey with evidence-based practices. His approach emphasizes the importance of client involvement, encouraging shared decision-making to achieve the best outcomes.

In his personal life, Ryan enjoys spending quality time with his daughter, walking his dog, going for hikes, runs, hitting the gym, and playing golf. He also loves reading books and getting outside to soak up the sunshine, balancing his active lifestyle with moments of relaxation and enjoyment.


Amanda M

Amanda McDonald

Occupational Therapist

Amanda is a highly experienced Occupational Therapist with over 14 years of expertise in rehabilitation settings. A graduate of Monash University, she has developed a strong foundation in working with clients who present with a wide range of conditions, particularly those who have sustained traumatic injuries or suffer from chronic health conditions. Amanda is known for her kind and patient demeanor, consistently prioritizing her clients’ goals and outcomes. Her deep commitment to goal focussed intervention and personalized care makes her a trusted and effective therapist who helps her clients regain independence and improve their quality of life. Amanda has personal experience navigating the NDIS system for her family, giving her a deep understanding of how rewarding working with knowledgeable clinicians can be. 

Outside of work you will find Amanda running around after her kids at a playground. Amanda enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the beach and travelling. She is an avid reader and loves exploring the walkways around the Yarra River.

Carly Bouwman

Occupational Therapist

With a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from James Cook University, Carly’s journey into occupational therapy has been fueled by her passion for making a positive impact in people’s lives.

Carly’s expertise isn’t just limited to her formal education. She’s constantly sharpening her skills and staying up-to-date with the latest practices through various professional development courses. From attending webinars on the Remotivation Process to mastering the PRPP Intervention, Carly is equipped with a diverse toolkit to address your unique needs.

With years of clinical experience under her belt, Carly has worked with a diverse range of clients, each with their own set of challenges. Whether it’s managing symptoms, prescribing assistive technology, or providing sensory interventions, Carly’s approach is always tailored to your specific circumstances.

From her time as a Senior Rural Generalist Occupational Therapist to her roles in disability housing and community settings, Carly has honed her skills in diverse environments, ensuring that she brings a wealth of experience to every session.

Outside of work, Carly finds joy in exploring different cultures through travel, spending quality time with loved ones, and soaking up the sun at the beach. Her zest for life translates into her work, where she’s dedicated to helping you regain independence and live life to the fullest.

Emma O'Brien

Occupational Therapist

At the heart of Emma’s practice as an Occupational Therapist is a commitment to empowering individuals living with physical disabilities. With a Bachelor in Occupational Therapy and 8 years of experience, Emma works within contemporary, person-centred frameworks that prioritise the lived experience of disability. Her approach is rooted in respect, collaboration, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by adults with physical disabilities.

Emma partners with each client to understand their personal goals and challenges, developing tailored strategies to achieve meaningful, lasting outcomes. Whether it’s regaining independence in daily activities, improving mobility, or adapting to life changes, her focus is on supporting you to reach your full potential.

Occupational Therapist

Micole is an experienced Community Occupational Therapist based in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne. She graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a Bachelor in Occupational Therapy in 2015. With a focus on adults clients, she is dedicated to enhancing their functional capacity and overall well-being through comprehensive assessment and tailored intervention services. Micole holds extensive experience having worked with diverse populations and settings such as in accute and subacute hospitals, clinics and in-home care. Her passion for helping individuals maximise their independence and quality of life drives her commitment to providing quality care and support.

As a bilingual therapist fluent in both English and Mandarin, Micole offers enhanced accesibility and cultural competence to clients from diverse backgrounds. Micole’s mission as an Occupational Therapist is to empower her clients to overcome obstacles and thrive in their daily lives.

During her free time, Micole enjoys cooking and baking, and being a participant of spin/cycle classes at the gym.

Nicole occupational therapist

Nicole Dwyer

Occupational Therapist

Nicole’s journey into occupational therapy began with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from Monash University, driven by her passion for making a positive impact on people’s lives and a desire to problem solve creatively to help individuals improve their independence and achieve their goals.

With over fourteen years of clinical experience across acute, subacute, and community care settings, Nicole excels in prescribing assistive technology, home modifications, managing symptoms, and providing individually tailored interventions that respect individuality and diversity. Her approach focuses on building trusting relationships and empowering clients and families.

Committed to continuous professional development, Nicole is currently advancing her expertise through an Improvement Advisor course with Safer Care Victoria and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. This dedication underscores her commitment to enhancing health outcomes and delivering compassionate, high-quality care.

Outside of work, Nicole enjoys spending time with family and friends, open water swimming, and exploring new travel destinations.
